Explore a new urban environment through the lens of freestyle football culture. Set in re-configured locations across Nipaluna, stumble across digital remnants left behind by the thirteen freestylers that congregated here for Our Side of Things in 2023.

Our Side of Things was a hybrid event and exhibition that embraced the layered subculture of freestyle football in Australia.

Influenced by football, circus, breaking and hip hop battle culture, with its roots in ancient Southern and South East Asia, freestyle football represents a contemporary border-breaking art form that is quickly gathering momentum.

From the outset, there was a desire to preserve the event in an explorative and experimental manner. To do this, Jonny Scholes combined game development tech with photos, videos and 3D scans to creatively re-envision the essence of the exhibition as a playable digital mashup.

INSIDE is an interactive game-like experience that runs on your desktop computer or laptop.
